R1 Sjaak goes Alaska with Doris Wiedemann. They start on January 1st 2009 in New York. First they ride to Key West in Florida (Most South) and than to Prudhoe Bay (Most North) in Alaska.
Extreme temperatures from -40 are no exception. Reismotor.nl will follow the whole journey and publish the story and movies several times a week.
Doris Wiedemann and R1-Sjaak arrived in New York where it's about -5C / 23F. They will stay there until the bikes are ready to roll. Saturday the 3th they receive their box with the two bikes. After visiting downtown Manhattan and getting organized they hope to leave on Monday 5th. An introduction video and more details are following soon!

Time to leave has come.R1-Sjaak says goodbye to his parents and goes by train to Frankfurt, Germany to celebrate New Year together with Doris.After the flight to New York, Sjaak and Doris start curiously opening the crate which contains their bikes, to see how they are doing after this long sea voyage.

The boat trip of the bikes from Rotterdam, The Netherlands to New York is done!R1-Sjaak and Doris take their bikes out of the wooden crate and mount all temporarily removed parts. The first tank of fuel they received for free. A very special welcome after they paid 30 dollar for a 6 mile-ride to get to their bikes.For now, leaving is planned on Wednesday. It’s chilly, -5°C, but no snow in sight.
